First of all, the domestic and international reaction to the second country is a ‘passing point’. In Korea, it dominated the Apple App Store sales ranking within a day of its release and entered the top 3 in Japan, the big market, and is doing well. Even taking into account the halo effect of the new work, it is enough to be a successful early box office success.
The second country, which I played directly, gave me the impression that it was a game that encompassed the strengths of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) and collectible RPG that Netmarble had been servicing. If the element of MMORPG is to choose one of the five characters to foster and interact with other users, the method of collecting and fighting pets called ‘Imazen’ is reminiscent of a collection RPG. The second country is about the protagonist who won a beta tester of ‘Soul Divers’, a virtual reality game created by a large company, Future World, and experiences the world in the game. It’s a game in a game, and thanks to this unique setting, you can feel a unique atmosphere, such as various NPCs portrayed as testers talking about the game in the village.
The Second Country is a story-oriented game that grows by continuously clearing quests. The cutscenes are plentiful, so if you like such a story, you can enjoy it as if you were watching the anime. Afterwards, the growth route is designed to accumulate experience points with additional content such as various auxiliary quests and subjugation, starting with the main quest. Tutorials to learn about the game are properly incorporated.
Party play that can be encountered in traditional MMORPGs has also been implemented. Up to 5 people can form a group to challenge the dungeon boss, but if they don’t dodge combat power and wide-area attacks in time, they often lie down. If you think it’s a mobile game, you can hurt your big nose.
Since the developer, Netmarble Neo, was the company that previously made ‘Lineage 2 Revolution’, the second country’s item growth method was also a method of increasing the equipment level by exhausting the items. The method of awakening by consuming the same equipment or upgrading equipment that has reached the 10,000 level can be easily adapted to those who have played previous action RPGs such as Lineage 2 Revolution in the past.
I mentioned at the outset that the second country has the characteristics of a collectible RPG, but there are really a lot of collectible elements in the second country. Of course, whenever you acquire a new character’s pose, appearance item, costume, weapon, etc., you can add it to your collection. Perhaps because of this, the second country had a lot to press, so I wasn’t bored.
As such, the second country is a game that integrates the know-how that Netmarble has accumulated over the years. The characteristics of different genres are organically intertwined, so there is no awkwardness.
