Cartoon Club closes a sold out edition with many authors and hundreds of cosplayers

The 37th edition of Cartoon Club, the International Film Festival of animation, comics and games, ended on Sunday with great satisfaction of the organizers. A “special” edition, organized with attention to all the precautionary anti-gathering rules, and which took place as always in numerous locations between the center of Rimini, the sea area and – new this year – the Piazza on ‘Water at the Tiberius Bridge. A fast-paced or fast-paced week that saw 300 animated shorts screened, selected from the 2,500 that entered the various competitions; 7 feature films; 500 children participating in the workshops, major partners such as Rai Ragazzi and Mediaset, Dynit. All enriched by the 9 awards that have been awarded: the Lifetime Achievement Award to Enzo d’Alò; the Fossati Award to Gianni Bono; the Prize in Faith and Stripes to Paolo Castaldi. And again the Awards: Cartoon Club 2021, Signor Rossi, Superability, Cartoon Club for the Environment, Cartoon Kids, Cartoon Junior.

Four exhibitions located at the Museum of the City, Augeo Art Space and Palazzina Roma, over 150 exhibition stands in the Riminicomix exhibition-market, a hundred Italian and foreign guest authors, fashion shows, round tables, workshops, comic strips. 8 concerts, 15 meetings with the authors, 2 original comic books published in this edition: Van Helsing. Before Martin Mystère by Alfredo Castelli, Lucio Filippucci and Carlo Peroni; and Don Camillo. The man without a head, by Davide Barzi and Emanuele Ranzani.

As many as 250 boys entered the Cosplay Contest, coming from all over Italy and even from Germany, who were awarded 36 prizes in the 3 days of competition. 5 foreign cosplayer guests exclusively for Rimini.
The singing contest dedicated to Giorgio Vanni was won by Seline who had the honor of going on stage with the singer during her highly acclaimed concert on Saturday evening. The Japanese anime Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, Attack of the Giants, Genshin Impact and Jujutsu kaisen are also particularly loved by the public, to which 4 very popular screening evenings have been dedicated.

“The organization of such an event, in a year still marked by the health emergency, was extremely difficult. Despite the fatigue and the inevitable technical complications, everything went very well. Above our expectations. We are also happy with the perfect functioning of the safety and prevention measures. – declares Sabrina Zanetti, artistic director of Cartoon Club – The cultural and entertainment offer was very high and varied. Cartoon Club, the most important summer event in the sector and one of the most awaited events of our Riviera, on this occasion was also the first major event in attendance. There is a great desire to return to normal. The great participation of the public confirmed this and, today, the satisfaction of the success is therefore double. “

“The meetings with the authors curated by Davide Barzi and Egisto Seriacopi at Riminicomix were practically all sold out – continues Paolo Guiducci, organizational director – as well as the 2 original shows of the 2021 edition on Saturday and Sunday at the Corte degli Agostiniani, by Vince Tempera, which paid homage to Luigi Albertelli together with Sergio Algozzino, to “I Mille Balloon Blu” by the Classic Swing Orchestra dedicated to Carlo Alberto Rossi. But the whole festival was very popular, even on social networks “.
Cartoon Club closes this extraordinary edition, but the exhibitions at Augeo Art Space and at the City Museum continue until July 31st. “In the middle of the journey of a cartoon – Dante a Comics”, set up at the Rocca Malatestiana will continue until 5 October.
