Düsseldorf A vaccination mobile in the city was ready for the young visitors to the largest anime, manga and Japan convention at the fair. Concerned about missing the second day of the fair due to side effects, the offer was only cautiously accepted on Saturday.

Several thousand cosplayers and Japan fans threw themselves into the flashy costumes over the weekend, many of which had been painstakingly designed by hand. They celebrated that they could finally get together again at DoKomi, the largest anime, manga and Japan convention. “It’s nice that we can meet friends again at conventions, I missed that very much,” said Franziska, for example. There was enough space at the event, because due to Corona, far fewer visitors than usual were allowed. Franziska also liked that: “This way you can see something at the stands.”
Clothing, games, figures, posters and merchandise products, wigs or, of course, mangas: there was a lot to see at DoKomi. To see and to be seen even more: That is what the trade fair is always about. Cell phones and cameras were repeatedly pulled out to photograph visitors in particularly eye-catching costumes. Lisa Smyra was a popular motif. She had made a dress from over a thousand Pokemon cards. “Actually, I had already planned the dress for Japan Day 2020. It takes a lot of patience to make such a dress and there were also some burned fingers, ”said the 29-year-old and laughed. Anastasiya had also used the Corona period to design her dress in the Gothic look: “You sat around at home and had nothing to do. But now I had to change something, because the mask should blend in with the look. “
The visitors could also be vaccinated on site – at the vaccination mobile in Düsseldorf. An offer that was accepted somewhat cautiously, at least on Saturday. “But we received a lot of inquiries for Sunday. Some are afraid of getting vaccination symptoms and then missing the second day of the convention, ”explained Thomas Tremmel, project manager of the Düsseldorf Fire Brigade Vaccination Center. Laura Hlousek did not let that deter her: “I chose Johnson & Johnson because you only have to be vaccinated once with it, even if the side effects are supposed to be stronger. If I get some, there is nothing that can be done. Then that’s the way it is. “She was pleased with the offer from the city:” I had not yet been able to get a vaccination appointment. The contact persons with us are totally overwhelmed or do not have a vaccine. “
