Jujutsu Kaisen came out of nowhere and took the hearts of anime fans by storm. A look at the streaming numbers at Crunchyroll clearly shows this.
Only a few series on Crunchyroll reach such figures: the new Jujutsu Kaisen has been seen over 1.5 million times in German-speaking countries. This makes the anime one of the streaming provider’s most successful German simulcasts.
The platform suspects that the German synchronization, which was created relatively quickly, contributed a lot. Tobias Philippi, Market Manager in the DACH region, commented as follows:
“Jujutsu Kaisen was able to gain a huge fan base in a very short period of time. We are delighted that the series, both in the original with subtitles and with German dubbing, is very well received by our users.
Oxygen Sound Studios notably contributed to this success through the swift creation of the German dubbed version, which can shine with attention to detail and top-notch distribution. Thanks to the German Express Dub, fans who prefer the German dubbed versions can have their say in Jujutsu Kaisen even soon after the Japanese premiere. ”

Jujutsu Kaisen: also very successful manga model
But not only the anime series, its manga model of the same name is also very popular in this country. According to KAZÉ Manga, this has increased the sales figures by five from its release in late 2019 to November 2020. Jujutsu Kaisen will likely be one of the top sellers in the German market this year.
So far a total of 9 volumes of the series * have been published in Germany. The series, which was produced by Sunghoo Park at Studio MAPPA, has been running on Crunchyroll since October 2 and is available both in original sound and with German dubbing.
