»Mahouka«: We are working on a new anime project

On the official Twitter account of “The Irregular at Magic High School” (Japanese: “Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei”) was today adthat a new anime production for the series is currently in the works. You can find a first teaser below in the article.

Adapted Anime Eighth Volume LN

So far, it’s only known that the anime project will adapt the “Reminiscence Arc” from the eighth volume of the original light novel. In what format (series, film, OVA) this will happen is not yet clear. A start date and other details are currently pending.

“The Irregular at Magic High School” has so far consisted of two seasons, each comprising 26 and 13 episodes, and aired on Japanese television in 2014 and 2020. There is also a film that has been released in spring 2017.

An animated adaptation of a derivative manga based on Tsutomu Satou’s light novel is currently in development with “The Honor Student at Magic High School”. This is expected to air on Japanese TV this year. The main series was released by KSM Anime.

Summary of the main series:

At the end of the 21st century, nations around the world are vying for the perfect training of their magicians to maintain the balance of power. Miyuki and her older brother Tatsuya are accepted into the famous First State Magic High School and Miyuki is immediately elected to represent the new students. At school there are the students of course 1, the so-called “Blooms”, who are the elite because of their exam results, and the students of course 2, the “Weeds”, who are considered as a kind of reserve in case of “Bloom” is eliminated.

Tatsuya does not manage to be accepted in the elite despite exceptional abilities and must now assert himself as a student of course 2. But suddenly the school is targeted by the terrorists of “Blanche” …
