Renowned Japanese composer Akira Yamaoka in an interview with Al Hub blogger from Saudi Arabia spoke about the timing of the announcement of his next ambitious project.
Recall that Yamaoka gained fame for writing music for the Silent Hill horror series, but he also participated in the development of other games. For example, the psychological horror film The Medium from the Polish Bloober Team.
What the composer is currently doing is unknown, but, apparently, this mystery will not last too long. According to Yamaoka, his new project should be presented next summer.
Of course, Yamaoka did not go into details regarding his new venture, but he mentioned that it was about development, which the community hoped to hear about.
Rumors of the past year strongly linked Yamaoka to his involvement in the process of creating a soft restart for the Silent Hill franchise, but no confirmation has yet been received.
It is known for sure that Yamaoka will write the soundtrack for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, a Netflix anime series set in the universe of the action RPG Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt RED. The show is slated to premiere in 2022.
The Medium was released on January 28 on PC (Steam, GOG, Microsoft Store, Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X and S. Despite mixed press reviews, the horror paid off the very next day after release.
