Eiichiro Oda is the creator of one of the biggest and most popular anime in the world. At the same time, he’s not too shy when it comes to talking to fans of the series about the world he created in One Piece.
In a recent exchange, the mangaka hinted at a surprising detail about the former pirate king who discovered the One Piece. With the flashback exploring the past of Kozuki Oden – one of the most famous residents of Wano Land – we got a fresh look at Roger in his prime, just before he discovered the great treasure that started the plot and remains the target of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat pirates.
During that flashback we not only learned more about Roger – who recorded Oden as a member of his crew – but also got to see in full force how he fought against Whitebeard in a day-long encounter.
While Oden was able to become a part of Roger’s crew, he was unable to ultimately save his life. When he returned to his homeland, he saw how he was cooked alive by Kaido and Orochi, then shot in the head, leaving a legacy that continues to this day and touched the hearts of the Straw Hat pirates.
Twitter user New World Artur now shares an interesting detail about Gol D. Roger, in which Oda implied that there might be more to the pirate captain’s encounter with the children of Oden, as the pirate king appears to have a history with a mysterious baby .
It is known that Gol D. Roger is the father of the late pirate Portgas D. Ace. However, it has never been mentioned that Gol D. Roger met Ace, which is why new developments might happen here.
