Iron Blooded Orphans, the most recent anime to premiere with Mobile Suit Gundam, will also have a special edition
“Mobile Suit Gundam“, one of the greatest classics of the anime industry that, apparently, is more alive than ever. Thus, the franchise, after announcing plans to the second film in the planned ‘Hathaway’ trilogy, has released today projects for up to three additional anime to premiere in 2022, being one the first weekly anime to see the light for the IP in the last 7 years.
Mobile Suit Gundam will live a golden year when 2022 arrives
Given that as you have been able to verify the announcements for the future of this IP have been given in multiple ways, I leave you next with a list that collects the little that is known about all these:
- Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury – This is the new weekly anime of the franchise, than there had been more in the last 7 years. It will be released in 2022. It is intended to create a job “that even the younger generations support […] we are shaping developments bigger than before“.
- Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan’s Island – Film that will be released in 2022 and that will retell chapter 15 of the original anime “Mobile Suit Gundam”. The director will be Yasuhiko Yoshizaku, a regular in the franchise and who will precisely work as animation director on the aforementioned anime.
- Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans – The most recent anime of the franchise (until The Witch From Mercury is released) will be broadcast again, this time during the spring of 2022, under a special edition. In this case, the 50 original chapters will be committed in 9 different episodes.
And at the moment this is all that is known about the various anime projects that will be released for “Mobile Suit Gundam” once 2022 arrives. Of course, what there is no doubt is that next year is going to be amazing for the fans of this long-lived franchise, even more so with the possibility that the premiere in 2022 of “Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: Sun (Son) of Bright” keep standing.
